Advocate. Rebuild. Reclaim.

The connections between mass incarceration, pollution, and poverty, are often left unacknowledged. We’re here to change that.

OUR PROGRAMS

GREEN LIFE AT SAN QUENTIN

We walk with the Earth, not just on it!

Imagine a lively and passionate class of 25 students tackling some of the most challenging issues humanity faces today. People are asking questions, sharing dynamic examples from their own stories, strategizing ways to integrate sustainable practices into their own lives and the lives of their loved ones, and organizing action plans to green the very institution where all this is taking place.

Well, this is all happening in one of the most unexpected yet appropriate settings in Marin County…San Quentin State Prison.

REENTRY LEADERSHIP

The Green Life Reentry Leadership group addresses disenfranchisement due to the mass incarceration system’s punitive nature and complex and bureaucratic reentry services for previously incarcerated individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area. We believe that “Healed people, heal people.”

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WORKSHOPS

In the principles of healthy living in culturally relevant programs we provide hands-on and employable environmental skills training through workshops and mentoring. Through our workshops, we educate the community about the potential of ecological and holistic design as a healing tool for reentry.

INTERGENERATIONAL YOUTH PROGRAM

Led by Green Life Leaders and Youth, our intergenerational youth program focuses on community and healing with monthly group meetings, environmental learning, and learning sharing events, and community service projects in partnership with CURY J (Communities United for Restorative Justice).
